First Increase in Charitable Giving in Three Years
Jun 29th
One of the many benefits of being involved with Click. Buy. Help. is the addition of a new and steady revenue stream. This innovative fundraising method can add to a non-profit organization’s revenue base, without taking away from existing sources. Being in a position of “increasing revenue” is where all organizations want to be.
Fortunately, there also seems to be good news overall in the world of philanthropy.
Click. Buy. Help. Determines Drobos Destinies
May 25th
Hurry! Voting ends June 17!
Click. Buy. Help. is dedicated to helping non-profit organizations earn commissions through the purchases made by their online supporters. If you are reading this post, you may already know that. What you may not know is that Click. Buy. Help. is employing a slightly different strategy for helping its member organizations. If successful, we’ll have the capacity to help not only the current members, but many, many more in the future.
Enter Drobo. Drobo? What the heck is a Drobo, you ask?
Drobo is a simple, safe, and expandable disk drive storage system that works with both Mac and Windows systems for the ultimate in file backup security. Huh? What does that have to do with helping non-profit organizations earn new sources of revenue?
The good people at Drobo are running a contest to identify the best uses of 100 Drobo storage systems. This post is my entry and if I win through voting (that’s where you come in), each Click. Buy. Help. organization will win one. We don’t have 100 organizations (yet), so there may be some distribution details to work out. However, that is a great problem to have.

Best Practice: St. Luke’s Gift Card Mall
Apr 27th
St. Luke School is a recent addition to Click. Buy. Help., but they have already begun building momentum. After initiating a few merchants in the traditional manner, they decided to also attempt to capture sales resulting from the upcoming graduation season.
Enter the Gift Card Mall.
In this screen capture, you can see the initial strategy. Starting with Amazon, they have begun assembling the gift cards to well-known merchants. These are not only well-known, but intended to be good candidates for graduation gifts.
Holiday Sales Impress
Jan 13th
The Internet marketing research company, comScore, Inc. provides marketing data and services to many of the Internet’s largest businesses. Last week, they announced that 2010 holiday sales advanced 12% in the November and December holiday season. Sales in excess of $32.6 billion took place during that time. What’s impressive is comScore’s assertion of that being a new all-time record.
Impressive, indeed.
Since Amazon.com is a Click. Buy. Help. merchant, it is interesting to keep track of their success, using these kinds of reports as a barometer.
Jumo: A Place for NPOs to Interact
Dec 12th
Fast Company recently did a story on a new site created by a previous Facebook employee. The site is called Jumo and is a platform for non-profit organizations to engage in discussion about the issues affected this community. Ironically, it too is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization devoted to bringing people together who care about the non-profit space.
Just like Click. Buy. Help., Juno isn’t about asking for money, although they of course will accept donations. They share our belief that if you bring people together, focusing on a common cause, much can be accomplished. Click. Buy. Help. assists non-profit organizations with focusing their supporters’ purchases. Juno helps to focus their visitors’ attention toward the issues of the day – a focus that can help chip away at those challenging issues.

The Ten “C”s of Volunteerism
Aug 23rd
Motorola is not just a major corporation. It is also known for its philanthropy and for its focus on helping its employees volunteer in their communities. Employees are able to take one day with pay each year to participate in the company’s Global Day of Service. Other major employers could learn a lot from Motorola.
Each year, Motorola carries on a tradition that began in 1992 and recognizes exceptional service among Motorola employees. They award outstanding employees with the Motorola CEO Award for Volunteerism. A past winner is Ron Walton and it is his definition of volunteerism for which this post is named.
Although the year of Ron’s award is not known, the essence of the following points are as true today as they were whenever he was recognized. Please allow me to share Ron’s list with you now: More >
40 Wealthy Families Join Gates and Buffett
Aug 5th
The last time Bill Gates introduced a new concept to the world, a total revolution took place, Microsoft was eventually born, and the rest as they say, is history. In this case, the non-profit world is passionately hoping that history is about to repeat itself with an equally revolutionary concept: the return to charitable giving.
Earlier this year, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Berkshire Hathaway Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett launched a campaign to encourage other high wealth individuals (read that: billionaires!) to donate the better part of their amassed fortunes to charity. Now, 40 wealthy families – not all billionaires – have signed the “giving pledge” and are shown on the Giving Pledge web site.
It appears their efforts to personally reach out to their “peers” is making a difference. More >

Sometimes it’s easier to answer a question with an example.
Inc.com recently posted the perfect answer to the questions. In this story, they discuss the passion that is held by Scott Harrison, the founder of charity: water. (Yes, lower case and punctuated as shown.) charity: water is aptly self-described as “a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. 100% of public donations directly fund water projects.”
How can you not get behind this one?
My point of the example? It is the passion that strikes each one of us at times that can’t be explained, but grabs you and doesn’t let you go. The fulfillment I receive for my 3 cents per hour salary is priceless. I hope to grow that not just for my personal gain, but because when I make a buck, so does one of the Click. Buy. Help. organizations.
Again, I can’t explain it. I can only say that it is fulfilling to make monthly contributions to the participating Click. Buy. Help. organizations. My wish to anyone reading this is that you find your own passion to help others.
